Dr. Anthony Burn

Dr Anthony Burn graduated in Medicine from Monash University. He trained in Anaesthesia at the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne, becoming a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 1990.

Anthony is a fully qualified medical practitioner, who has undertaken additional specialist medical training. This medical and specialist training is as long as that undertaken by a surgeon.


He works as a specialist anaesthetist predominantly in private practice, and has a public hospital appointment at the Alfred Hospital.

Each year he fulfils the continuing medical education requirements of his specialist college, thereby maintaining skills and keeping his knowledge up to date. He has worked in the United Kingdom, Middle East and New Zealand.

His work regularly involves laparoscopic surgery, neurosurgery, orthopaedics, plastics, ENT, urology and trauma.

Anthony works regularly with paediatric patients.

He is involved in teaching and supervision of anaesthetic doctors in training, medical students and ambulance paramedics. He is on the faculty of CORE (Centre for Obesity Research and Education), in the Department of Surgery, Monash University. Anthony is an honorary lecturer in the Monash University Certificate of Peri-operative Medicine course.

Dr. Anthony Burn has been a VAG member since 2004.
